AN EVENING OF ART + SCIENCE brings together the worlds of art and medicine as the Forbes Institute for Cancer Discovery and the A. Alfred Taubman Medical Research Institute pair their eminent University of Michigan physician-researchers with leading contemporary artists. Their meetings and discussions result in the creation of boundary-breaking works that capture the genius of both worlds, culminating in a gala and auction to benefit groundbreaking medical discovery at U-M.

This innovative evening offers patrons the opportunity to see and bid on these unique creations, and to meet some of the world’s greatest artistic and scientific thinkers. The 2017 event was hosted at MOCAD, the Museum of Contemporary Art Detroit, and celebratee the collaboration between the Taubman Institute and U-M’s newly established Forbes Institute for Cancer Discovery.

Paintings, sculpture, jewelry and more by 25 talented artists were up for bid.  The festive party featured entertainment, strolling dining and surprise signature cocktails.  Participating artists and physician-researchers discussed the collaborative process and the commonalities they found in their glimpse into one another’s approach to excellence.
